Many Jewish high school graduates continue their higher education in universities and colleges spread throughout the State of Michigan. These students remain in this "away from home" environment for four, six or more years. The college years are the most important formative years at the juncture of their lives where they turn from high school kids to mature college students and then become part of the adult world as young professionals.

Although Jews are a part of the Jewish people through biological lineage, many are limited in their Jewishness to this alone, while Jewish knowledge, affiliation, faith, practice and ties to Israel are either minimal or nonexistent.
